Pregnancy & Work Transitions

Pregnancy & Work Transitions

The Pregnancy & Work Transitions Programme is about helping you through the transitions of conception, pregnancy and childbirth, along with the day to day life changes ahead – from time off with new baby at home, to the preparation for your return to work.

The Pregnancy & Work Transitions programme is 3-6 sessions – dependent upon personal requirements.

Brief course outline:

  • Preparing for changes with knowledge and the tools to cope well
  • Conception/Birthing: learning progressive relaxation techniques and positive visualization
  • Understand and acknowledge any anxieties and learn adaptive behaviour strategies
  • Maternity Leave – plan a new routine and daily rhythm with positive re-framing
  • Return to Work: planning your return to your previous job, or a new career change

Conception, Pregnancy and Birth – nowadays many women use hypnotherapy to ease conception anxiety and also to manage the birthing process and the pain.  This is with the use of taught techniques, including progressive relaxation and visualisation (with peaceful soothing images and sounds in your ‘safe place’). The aim is to help to reduce anxiety fears for an easier, calm transition for mother and baby.  Effective breathing and deep relaxation aids in the production of hormone Oxytocin, for effective and less painful contractions.

Enjoying Time off work with baby and preparing for your return – many women feel anxious about taking time out – whilst others really look forward to it.  Whatever your point of view, it is a time that is special for you and your baby. It is also a time that will allow you the space to review what you want to do with your life in the future. Some women extend their maternity leave, others choose to learn new skills and make a structured career transition. Whatever you choose, this is a positive and highly enriching time in your life and I will be delighted to help you on this journey!

Menopause Transition

Menopause Transition

Easing the Menopause Transition.

For many women, the menopause transition marks that time in our lives when we can positively reflect on what we want for ourselves and make small changes to ease and to optimise that transition. Many women find themselves becoming empty nesters with time to make suitable changes in career or lifestyle.  Menopause brings the space to reflect towards new possibilities. This can be an inspiring thing!

About Menopause Transition

When I’m training groups or engaged in 1-1 private sessions, I always begin by explaining the natural chemical changes that occur from the start of the perimenopausal stage and therefore the natural feelings that will accompany these changes. Perimenopause can bring hormonal changes that happen several years before the start of menopause, that can have an effect on the routine and rhythm of our daily lives particularly due to the changes in our oestrogen levels.

Even after the actual menopause, the symptom of hot flushes can continue for several years, along with the anxiety. Many women report to me that they worry about work presentations and meetings with important clients; others worry about not letting friends down socially.  Women also worry about feeling, ‘why am I so tired?’  Much is written about adrenal fatigue and this is where anxiety and stress come in, bringing worry, feeling overwhelmed, and as some of my clients describe it, ‘washed out.’

I have successfully steered my own course through the menopause without the need of any HRT and therefore will happily share my secrets of success with you – along with my in depth training.

My coaching and wellbeing programme for Menopause Transition includes :

  • An understanding of the natural chemical changes that are occurring
  • Making lifestyle changes to assist your transition (diet, exercise, positive thinking)
  • Positive anxiety and stress management – visualisation, meditations, self-hypnosis
  • Evaluating any emotional changes and unresolved issues to reduce stress
  • Deciding future goals and plans, e.g. career changes, lifestyle changes

It is so important to give space to our ‘inner voice’ to acknowledge the often varied and changing emotions that arise during this time of change. In doing so, we can address any unresolved issues and plan a path that will facilitate changes – and even new goals of what we want to achieve.

About Hypnotherapy

About Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a peaceful and safe process. During your session you will experience a relaxed and pleasant state of being. People often speak of feeling a real calm during the process and afterwards, a sense of empowerment. Many people find hypnotherapy a highly effective treatment for a variety of emotional or anxiety-related issues such as stress, fears, phobias, panic attacks and many more. Hypnotherapy has been described by many of my clients as life changing because it can allow you to deal with whatever issues may be blocking your progress and to make beneficial new changes – in other words, to build on your strengths, and to go forward with confidence. During your treatment you will be awake and aware of everything that’s going on. Hypnosis involves an altered state of awareness, called trance. Trance is a normal process. In our everyday lives, we utilise a number of different trance states while we remain awake. For example, you may notice this when you are a passenger in a car, or on a long train journey. Trance can take you inward to a particular memory. Now you understand the link between hypnosis and the trance. It is during such a trance state, that the hypnotherapist works with the client to gain agreement between their conscious and unconscious mind, and to enable beneficial change.

Hypnosis is a pleasant experience and the process involves suggestion and agreement, often through utilising metaphor. The object in gaining agreement is to facilitate change in current limiting patterns of thinking and behaviour, and to suggest new ideas that will empower you towards specific changes you want to make.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE – Complementary therapies such as hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and NLP can work well with conventional medical treatments; however, they are not a substitute for medical treatment and we are required to state that if you have been diagnosed with a medical condition, or suspect you have a medical condition, you should consult your General Practitioner before commencing any form of alternative therapy treatment.

About Hypno-Psychotherapy

About Hypno-Psychotherapy

How Hypnosis and Psychotherapy Can Help You ….

Hypno-Psychotherapy can help to bring about positive change and a new direction. People often describe a belief of being held back by unwanted psychological thoughts and feelings and the behaviours this can lead to such as unwanted fears and phobias. Psychotherapy can help a person to understand the cause behind these unwanted thoughts and feelings. Through discussion and analysis, psychotherapy can help to change negative patterns of behaviour to more enabling new patterns. Hypnotherapy and NLP are part of the enabling tools to this process in helping to guide you towards your desired outcome.

Hypno-psychotherapy and NLP, through the processes of reframing, suggestion and visualisation can help to increase motivation levels as a person experiences the feeling of freedom in finding a new way forward. For example, some people describe the experience of unwanted daily anxiety, created by the replay of their internal inner voice as critic, replaying unwanted past scenarios, and forecasting the future situations. If we experience frustration, upset or anger, this can have a negative impact on our confidence and self esteem through the wider transference into our communication and the behaviours we exhibit to others.

Please see the list of Treatments to see where hypnosis, psychotherapy and NLP may help you.

About NLP

About NLP

What Change would your like to make?
I can benefit my clients through offering NLP (where appropriate) in conjunction with Hypnotherapy. The two work very well together and strengthen the process of beneficial new change. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was developed by studying and modelling the strategies of successful people, including Milton Erickson, a doctor who understood how language influences mental states. NLP creates states that are useful in situations where motivation and goals are sought, such as in personal development, in business related issues or sports performance. NLP is also highly successful in curing fears and phobias, which can limit a person’s potential and lower confidence.

What you will gain from Hypnosis and NLP
Your session will include instruction in how to achieve self-hypnosis which will let you have the control to strengthen and to set up states to achieve positive outcomes in specific situations. You will feel more enabled, at peace with yourself and more creative. Self-hypnosis can be used for power-napping states and business people or parents with hectic schedules find this a useful tool as it enables them to feel refreshed for their coming meetings or to calm down and avoid stress during the rush of the day. For example, sports competitors or those preparing for exams, find self-hypnosis useful in maintaining calm states of being before the event.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis

Quit Smoking Hypnosis

Would you like to stop the unhealthy habit of smoking with Quit Smoking Hypnosis?

Imagine the sense of freedom and control you can regain as a non-smoker!

Most people are aware that smoking is a habit and it carries health risks for the individual. Smoking also has unhealthy secondary affects for people who come into regular contact with you, as proven in various medical reports. Smoking is now considered to be very anti-social.

Smoking is often used by a person as part of their daily strategy. This strategy can mask a number of different issues. The reasons why a person started smoking may have been formed many years ago and can vary considerably. For example, reasons may have included a want of social involvement with a group who were smokers, or it may have occurred as a result of a trauma, and the habit formed and continued in the belief that it helped to deal with the subsequent emotion. For some people the habit of smoking may have developed as a way to enable them to take time out for themselves. People often continue in the mistaken belief that smoking actually helps to get them through the day and perhaps to cope with issues at work. Smoking can become a substitute for something that is lacking in life.

Quit Smoking Hypnosis – Why not take control now and stop smoking!

Free consultation before session. This is an important free telephone screening consultation session to assess your level of motivation to stop smoking. I will not waste your time and money or recommend that you proceed unless I am convinced that you have the motivation to stop the habit of smoking. This involves being able to satisfactorily work with the therapeutic interventions to enable you to become a non-smoker.

My session(s) includes teaching you coping mechanisms and visualisation techniques so as to fully enable you towards feelings of control and confidence.

Lose Weight Hypnosis

Lose Weight Hypnosis

Lose Weight Hypnosis and Weight Management Hypnosis

Do you want to take control of overeating or unwanted comfort eating? Has it all just become a habit?

You could enjoy an individually designed Weight  Management Programme for beneficial change.

I see a variety of clients for issues relating to weight control. Some have just developed an unhealthy habit of excess eating, however, a major emotional issue for many is comfort eating and this can cause distress at any age due to the impact on a person’s confidence of the generally unwanted extra kilos. Excess weight can spoil a person’s enjoyment and participation in certain sporting activities, restricting their ability to be healthy and fit.

Unfortunately, comfort eating can make a person feel very good for a short time, and often takes on an emotion. Many people report that certain events occurred in their past – events which haven’t been dealt with. So it becomes ‘comforting’ for them to reach for a slice of cake or bar of chocolate. Other people report how the stresses of daily life can make it very easy to eat certain foods that we’re all inclined to believe make us feel better (the sugar rush). However, the problem sets in when it becomes a daily habit and we don’t even consciously think before we reach for an extra portion, or favourite pudding. We feel bad afterwards but then the cycle continues into a pattern of overeating.

Comfort eating is actually tied to a range of different emotions and it may be that certain foods give people a sense of security or an emotion that replaces what is missing in their life. Therefore, on a deeper level, my treatment would involve guiding you towards acknowledging the old belief driving why you comfort eat.

Reasons for comfort eating also include issues such as boredom, stress and anxiety, insecurity, wanting a reward, feeling loneliness and possibly feeling or getting over a rejection. Often, there is something missing in life! And therefore if such a situation has continued for a long period in your life, it is important in the treatment that we motivate your life with suitable positive alternatives too.

You can start to regain control of your life

Therefore, as well as giving interventions for weight control, part of the successful therapy plan I use, involves finding out what may be missing in life and finding something positive to help replace this with. For example, one 30 something client told me she had always wanted to be able to go to the gym and the swimming pool and feel happy to wear her swimsuit, and having lost weight, she now has the confidence to do this. A male client told me he’d always wanted to go mountain walking at weekends, and now he can get fit enough to do this and be able to keep up with his friends.

What beneficial change would weight control bring to your life?

For weight control, my model involves advanced hypnotic and NLP techniques within a coaching model combined to suit your personal situation and to develop a feeling of confidence and control, whilst still allowing you to have a healthy and enjoyable relationship with food. Please ask Sara for further details.
